Bipolar Disorder Information

   Posted by:    in Uncategorized

People that are living with the bipolar disorder may end up going through different types of depressing episodes and it various from person to person so you never really know which each person with the bipolar disorder is facing. Usually the person will feel like they are worth nothing, unable to be helped, run out of energy, becomes fatigue, and becomes uninterested in participating in any activities which they once found fun to be involved in. A lot of the time, people who are suffering from the bipolar disorder are also suicidal and are likely to attempt suicide once (or many times) and may even become successful at some point and time. The whole bipolar disorder fully controls your mind when you are going through episodes and you can’t really fight it off.

Different from a manic episode though, people who are suffering from a depressing episode from the bipolar disorder can just get diagnoses if there are at least five common characteristics or symptoms which occur every day for a full two weeks or more. Bipolar disorder is not sexist and harms both men and female but it has been discovered that it seems like females with bipolar disorder tend to have the mood swings a lot faster than men do and are likely to have more depressive episodes from the bipolar disorder than men will but this is not all the time, just the majority of the time.

Bipolar disorder is not considered to be an illness though and this is the main reason why a lot of people get the wrong diagnosis from the doctor. Usually the doctor believes that the patient actually has schizophrenia or another very advanced and severe mental illness but that is not the case. Just like having diabetes or heart issues, there is some good news to it – bipolar disorder is treatable.

For you to be able to treat the bipolar disorder, your doctor will get you on various medications, you will have to go through psychotherapy sessions, and if it is advanced and severe enough, you will also have to go through ECT (electro convulsive therapy) but that is only for the very severe cases of bipolar disorder.

However, don’t ever think that this will just be treated right away as the treatment usually takes a few weeks before it takes effect on your body and with the assistance of your friends and family, you will be able to have full control of how you act all the time and not face any depressive episodes because of the bipolar disorder any more. You could even go as far as joining a support group so you can be with others who have the same problem and you can understand that it is not uncommon and you can help cope with it easier if you know that others are dealing with it every day as well.

People can go crazy because of the bipolar disorder but it can be treated so you should make sure that you take care of yourself right away or if you know anyone that has the bipolar disorder that you actually go out of your way to get them assistance immediately because bipolar disorder can actually end your life a lot easier than you think.
