Bipolar Diagnosis

   Posted by:    in Uncategorized

It has always been believed that the bipolar disease is only a disease which affects about 1% of the United States population but recently it seems that doctors believe that there is a real true chance that there is up to 5% of the United States population which are suffering from the bipolar disorder. This is a neurological disorder which will end up having you switching moods quickly, hitting an emotional low, and high and can also result in attempt (or successful) suicide. People with bipolar disease will feel helpless, worthless, and useless when suffering from a depressive episode. The bipolar disease is not bias to your gender though and can affect both females and males equally but the mood swings are quicker with girls and the episodes also occur more often with girls.

It will depend a lot on each person individually, how severe their case of the bipolar disorder is, how long the episodes last, and various other characteristics but a lot of the symptoms are just like those that occur with people who suffer from manic depression.

Maybe you can classify one of the symptoms of the bipolar disorder as a good thing, and this would be the hypomania which a lot of artists and author’s a like face from being manic depressive and this problem will actually contribute in them having a wider imagination and being more creative on paper or on the canvas. Some of the most imaginative authors were known to get tied up in their minds and live with various mental illnesses.  Hypomania can turn into a very dangerous manic period really quickly.

People with bipolar disorder often think about committing suicide and this is because they feel that they are useless and worthless. An estimation of 15% was made that people who are being attacked with manic depression will actually be successful in killing themselves and over 30% of them will actually try to kill themselves as well. The people that are living through very quick mood changes which is very common in bipolar II are at a very much higher chance of attempting to commit suicide or becoming successful at committing suicide.

People with bipolar disorder often lose their sense of taste, not so much the taste but their appetite almost vanishes and a lot of people (especially females) with bipolar disease become anorexic because of this symptom. Those with bipolar disorder don’t have the signal sent in their brain which tells them to eat so they aren’t aware that they are hungry and just let the day go by without eating usually. This can lead to your brain to going into a mania state really quickly.

On the order hand, some people who are suffering from bipolar disorder will end up getting a bigger appetite and gaining weight. This is because some people will deal with depression (usually with bipolar II patients) will result to food to cope with the disease. Due to the fact that the amount of neurotransmitters (like dopamine) in the body aren’t very high for people who are manic depressive, it could easily result in the patient resorting to sugary foods and chocolate and will lead in you temporary stabilizing your mood.  If you have bipolar disorder and want to lose weight, you need to find an alternative to deal with the depression or else you will not be successful in doing so.
